Peaceful Sleep Begins with the Right Care

What Is Sleep Apnea and Why It Matters

Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder characterized by pauses or shallow breathing during sleep, leading to interrupted rest and decreased oxygen levels in the body. Untreated sleep apnea can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, and mood changes over time.

There are three main types of sleep apnea:

  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA): The most common form, caused by relaxed throat muscles blocking the airway.
  • Central Sleep Apnea: A rarer type where the brain fails to send proper signals to control breathing.
  • Complex Sleep Apnea: A combination of both obstructive and central sleep apnea.

Many individuals in our community may be suffering from sleep apnea without realizing it. If you are experiencing symptoms such as daytime fatigue, dry mouth, headaches, or loud snoring, it is important to seek attention and address the issue.
